We are seeking a full-time
Legal Assistant to join our busy
Litigation Practice Group in our
Toronto office

This role assists the practice of Legal Professionals through the provision of secretarial, clerical and administrative support. Legal Assistant's work with team members to provide excellent client service to both internal and external parties.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Acts as a liaison between relevant internal and/or external parties. Routes or answers routine correspondence to relevant parties;
  • Provides clerical, administrative and general office support including, but not limited to, scanning, photocopying, faxing, scheduling and calendar management, receives/places phone calls with internal and/or external parties, mail, organizes travel arrangements, and scans PDF documents;
  • Provides billing support with respect to accounting and invoicing clients as required. This includes review of prebills, making corrections or advising Accounting to make corrections and mailing out final bill under a cover letter. Prepares expense requisitions etc.;
  • Creates and maintains physical and electronic files in accordance with standard procedures, including opening and closing files, conflict searches, etc.;
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring:


  • Community College Certificate/Diploma in a Legal Secretarial/Office Administration program and/or equivalent experience working in a legal professional environment;
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Civil Rules, procedures and practices;
  • Experience with Civil Litigation court procedures and practices
  • Experience with Estates Litigation court procedures and practices is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge with Mediation procedures and practices is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of the English language, including spelling, grammar, legal word meaning and word usage;
  • Exceptional client service skills;
  • Superior writing skills necessary to draft and proofread documents and correspondence;
  • Organizational skills required to effectively multitask;
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently;
  • Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Detailoriented in order to keep track of multiple files for more than one legal professional;
  • Knowledge in legal Accounting software;
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and be adaptable;
  • Ability to follow instructions and superior attention to detail;
  • Ability to demonstrate independent judgment and solve problems.
