Position Overview:


What You Will Do:


  • Check and straighten and/or handform material and/or components to templates or form blocks and inspect individual parts using precision measuring instructions (i.e. gauges, micrometers, calipers).
  • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff or smooth surfaces, seams or joints with abrasive materials or by using hand tools, portable power tools.
  • Depending on the final classification awarded, other tasks include: heat treating metal parts/components, setting up and operating hand and machine tools, welding equipment or computerized machines; the work also involves assembling parts and structures by lining up and joining them by welding, bolting or riveting; and there may also be an element of finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing or bathing them in acid solutions;
  • Work with, read and/or interpret drawings, sketches, blueprints/mylars and read and understand operator manuals and/or customer specifications or sample parts, to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products.
  • Follow detailed drawings or specifications to find out job, material and equipment requirements, and much of the work will involve cutting, rolling and shaping, heating or hammering metal products to fabricate parts or subassemblies
  • Communicate with, and receive instructions from Supervisor and/or Charge Hand in the transition of the workflow & production work scheduling; to assess current material needs and/or to address any problems accordingly;
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and the use safety equipment will be the highest priority for you and your coworkers;.
  • Perform routine maintenance on work equipment; keep tools, equipment and immediate work area(s) in a clean, orderly and safe condition.

What You Will Bring:


  • Completion of High School (Grade 12), equivalent experience, training;
  • One year previous experience in a manufacturing environment would be considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of processes, products and equipment and ability to read blueprints and engineering documentation will be considered an asset, however training initiatives will be offered to improve knowledge, safety, productivity and quality of work;
  • Have strong reading and comprehension skills, be able to balance multiple priorities and have a strong interest in aircraft assembly, repair and/or overhaul;
  • Must possess a high level of manual dexterity, attention to detail, good handeye coordination and have the strength to handle a variety of tools, machines and material;
  • Must be reliable, able to meet 'moderateheavy' pace of work demands and physical requirements of the position, including but not limited to: shiftwork; walking, dynamic standing/sitting and attention to detail for extended periods; hand/finger/back/head manipulation, occasional weight bearing/lifting, operating various hydraulic
- and hand-tools, and wearing safety gear applicable to the task on hand;

  • Must be able to be a 'selfstarter', who is eager to learn and has a desire to progress within the Company and/or work cooperatively with others in a 'teamwork' environment and follow written and spoken directions precisely;
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and the Canadian Security Clearances
  • Secret Level II.
