Essential Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in an animal health setting
- Demonstrated excellence in animal husbandry
- Requires excellent interpersonal, supervisory, organizational and planning skills to work effectively in a highly regulated environment and have the ability to deal with confidential matters
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and problem solve. Demonstrates Good judgment, initiative, tact and professional attitude in the workplace
- Adaptable, flexible and resourceful. Ability to work flexible hours and weekends
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated organization and time management skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
- Successful completion of skill testing
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Laboratory Animal Technician (RLAT) completed, or in progress
- Experience contributing to and overseeing compliant animal research procedures
- Experience caring for multiple animal species
- Familiarity with relevant legislation and guidelines e.g. Canadian Council on Animal Care Guidelines for the Care and Use of Experimental Animals, Animals for Research Act,
- Familiarity with Western University and Lawson animal care policies and standard operating procedures an asset
- Ability to review animal use protocols to determine facility operational requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams, e.g. including facility staff, faculty, research staff, students and residents;
- Proficiency in French would be an asset

Immunization Requirements
- Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid19 vaccine and a written commitment to follow any
- management in the workplace
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
