Who we need:

The Program Advisor's primary purpose is to foster student success measured by timely program completion and/or continuing enrolment in university programs.

The program advisor administers a calendar of customer service activities including following up with students at-risk of departure, managing term registration follow-up and connecting with withdrawn students and students on leave of absence to encourage re-entry.

Working as part of a team, this position is also responsible for proactively linking students with a variety of services and support mechanisms, namely academic, financial services, IT support, student life and tutoring.

What you will do:

  • Ensure student commitment, engagement, and success measured by timely program completion or continuing enrolment.
  • Following up with term registrations to ensure students are following their plan of study.
  • Work with the Registrar's Office to confirm student registration issues are resolved within the established timelines.
  • Connect with students based on indications they may be at risk of departure or poor coursework and attendance performance.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of graduation ceremonies.
  • Administer withdrawal and reentry protocols.
  • You will reach out to students on leaves of absence (LOAs) and offer pathways and services to support reenrollment.
  • Assist with student retention and persistence reporting.
  • Connect students to support services.
  • Assist students in accessing academic, financial, IT, tutoring, housing and health and wellness services.
  • Follow up to ensure the appropriate level of support was provided and to redirect if necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you bring:

  • Undergraduate degree and 2+ years working in student services or customer services.
  • RCIC License preferred but not a requirement.
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service, which translates to a commitment to student success.
  • Collaborative and collegial, driven to accomplish team goals.
  • High standards of ethics and integrity and you share our mission to change lives.
  • Exposure to a higher learning setting is preferred, including understanding student support systems and how they work together.
  • You ask intelligent questions, actively listen and approach problems analytically and creatively.
  • Focused on finding solutions that are actionoriented and leverage and link to existing supports and services.
  • You can build trusting relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
  • A deep appreciation for diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office and ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Detailoriented with meticulous record keeping skills.
  • General openness to working extended hours during peak periods for student registration and reporting.
