Do you have an interest in plant operations and eager to work in an ever-changing process operator role here in Fort McMurray?


In this role you'll work side-by-side with some of the most talented operators in the energy industry to perform work that supports smooth and efficient operations of our Upgrading Coker assets.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in plant operations such as heavy oil processing, sour gas processing, water treatment/power plants or refinery operations
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make timely decisions associated with process upsets 4th Class Power Engineering certification; ABSA certified; Or Successful completion of ABSAs Fourth Class Power Engineering Part A and B exam within the last 5 years
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record

Key Accountabilities:

  • Follow operating processes & procedures to ensure the safety of our people, equipment, and environment
  • Prepare & complete daily area logs and communicate significant changes and findings
  • Perform required plant operation duties and communicate all shift changes clearly & effectively
  • Ensure timely action and process adjustments during plant upsets that are consistent with operational objectives and target outputs
  • Prepare equipment and systems for maintenance and commissioning
Location & other key details- You will work out of our Base Plant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta- The shift schedule is a 6 days on / 6 days off rotation (3 days on, 3 nights on, 6 days off; 12-hour shifts)- This position is safety sensitive- You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
