    Job Summary

    Tims Camps has introduced a new In-School Community Program stream, aimed at bringing the essence of camp to schools and community groups to overcome barriers related to accessibility and geography. The In-School Program aims to replicate the camp experience at school gyms, playgrounds, and community spaces in low-income neighbourhoods.

    Reporting to the Manager of Community Programs, the In-School Program Specialist is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the implementation of Tims Camps Community Programs within schools and community group spaces in the designated region. Ensuring a positive and high-quality program experience for participants is a key focus of this role. The In-School Program Specialist leverages their expertise in youth development, outdoor education, program quality systems, and coaching to provide guidance and support to both their team and the youth they serve.

    Work Location

    This role will require daily travel within the assigned geographic area (Winnipeg, Manitoba). The position is remote, based in Winnipeg, with occasional travel to the Home Office located in St. George, Ontario.

    Employment Type

    This is a full-time permanent position expected to commence on August 12, 2024.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Youth Engagement

  • Develop, deliver, review, and enhance creative and innovative programs for schools and community locations, ensuring high-quality program experiences aligned with desired outcomes and quality frameworks.
  • Cultivate a culture of creativity and innovation by designing engaging, fun, and interactive programs tailored to specific objectives.
  • Implement programs based on Tims Camps curriculum and standards, while assessing their effectiveness through the TIMpact365 measurement strategy.
  • Offer guidance that celebrates individual differences and promotes success among participants.
  • Ensure participant engagement and provide recognition for their contributions and accomplishments.
  • Assist in managing participant behavior and provide support to staff and educators in this area.
  • Contribute to digital and social media initiatives to boost youth engagement and readiness.
  • Aid the Manager of Community Programs in finalizing program schedules, procurement, inventory updates, and documentation tasks.
  • Submit progress reports and required documentation via Salesforce, maintaining compliance with Tims Camps standards.
  • Support communication with parents, guardians, and schools as needed, under the guidance of the Manager of Community Programs.
  • Customer Service

  • Contribute to program planning and delivery, collaborating with cross-functional teams when necessary.
  • Demonstrate excellence in facilitating activities and managing groups for various user demographics, ensuring a hospitable and customer-oriented presence as a representative of Tims Camps in the community.
  • Participate in restaurant owner engagement initiatives and assist in organizing camp events.
  • Ensure program areas, equipment, and activity spaces are maintained and prepared for safe usage, including inventory and maintenance activities.
  • Complete assigned administrative duties and provide support for cross-functional tasks as required.
  • Establish and nurture positive relationships with teachers, administrators, and other education stakeholders.
  • Supervision

  • Provide constructive feedback, ongoing coaching, and support to staff members.
  • Contribute to staff training and recruitment processes as assigned.
  • Assist in supervising and evaluating staff members, including conducting performance appraisals.
  • Offer insights on staff development and performance to the Manager of Community Programs.
  • Risk Management

  • Take responsibility for risk assessment and the implementation of safety standards and procedures, ensuring the safe execution of activity-based learning.
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines for staff and participants in school or community settings.
  • Complete emergency response training and understand assigned responsibilities while on-site.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree and/or college background in Education, Outdoor Experiential Education, or relevant field. A Bachelor of Education degree is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent time management, project management, and organizational skills across multiple tasks and projects.
  • Over 2 years of experience working with children and youth, preferably in an outdoor or camp setting.
  • Proficiency in behavior management and problem-solving.
  • Ability to exhibit professionalism and good judgment when dealing with schools and community groups.
  • Demonstrated expertise in program facilitation.
  • Previous experience in youth development or camp-related activities.
  • Access to a personal vehicle and a valid G Class Driver's License, or equivalent, is required.
  • Willingness to travel within the designated geographic area, including flexibility for early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Possession of a current Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification is advantageous.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory criminal background check or vulnerable sector check.
  • Fluency in French and English is a bonus.
