Work Arrangements:

We are currently working remotely, and we will be moving to a hybrid model when our office renovation is complete (approximately November 2023), coming into the office a minimum of 2 days per week, every other week on designated days.


The Opportunity:

Equitable Life of Canada is looking to fill the full-time position of a Technology Platform Owner - Digital Properties for Individual Insurance and reports to the AVP, Technology.

You will play a pivotal role in the Technology Strategy and will organize, lead and develop digital capability and platforms centered on building a digitally enabled, future-ready insurance company.

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Technology Architect to join Equitable Individual Insurance Technology team. The Technology Platform Owner (TPO) role will own and steward a technology platform.

Lead and collaborate with multiple business and IT teams and leaders, the role will manage the direction and processes of multiple development teams to execute tactical and strategic initiatives to support business products or value streams and its owned technology platform.

The TPO-Digital Properties, will work in collaboration with the business to define the experience to provide core capabilities and delight clients and advisors that own an Equitable policy or are insured by us.

The TPO-Digital Properties is accountable for managing multiple IT delivery teams, providing an engaging working environment, building out the technical roadmap, researching new opportunities and working on the strategic modernization of the platform.

What you will be doing:


  • Set technical platform vision and implementation roadmap for owned assets to support and enhance business outcomes
  • Advance the technical health and performance of owned assets and platform
  • Manage total cost of operation and ownership of the product platform and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Accountable for introduction, alignment, and maintenance of a platform specific release calendar
  • Own the technical platform roadmap and ensure the delivery of milestones upholds enterprise standards
  • Ensure product solutions meet enterprise architecture and quality standards
  • Drive future development aligned with key metrics
  • Communicate critical, highrisk, advanced and/or crossfunctional technical design and solutions to internal and external IT stakeholders
  • Establish release governance for scoping of upcoming releases according to the planning rules, business priorities and other technical, functional, or organizational dependencies and objectives
  • Assess downstream dependencies and the corporate or strategic impacts related to technical changes
  • Manage IT contracts and vendor relationships to ensure excellence of delivery and positive relationships
  • People Management of direct reports including hiring, training, mentoring, coaching, assigning work, and performance management

What you will bring:


  • 3+ years in a leadership / management role in solutions, design and development
  • 5+ years of handon enterprise class software solution design and development
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer systems engineering or software engineering or related field
  • A strong focus on client experience, growth mindset and innovation skills
  • Ability to build an engaging work environment and build strong relationships
  • Leading and mentoring multiple delivery teams by building stakeholder confidence in their performances
  • Leading change and digital transformations through love to modern technology
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including the capability to break dow
