Assistant Professor in Bovine Population Medicine

The _Faculté de médecine vétérinaire _(FMV) of the _Université de Montréal_ is currently seeking qualified
multidisciplinary team in his Department of Clinical Sciences. The FMV is located in Saint-Hyacinthe, the
agricultural capital of Quebec with inhabitants. The FMV is located 60 km (37 miles) from Montreal,
a vibrant city with an international airport and excellent flight connections to Europe, the USA and South
America. The FMV is also within easy reach of the beautiful, historic Quebec City and Ottawa, the capital of
Canada. The FMV is located off campus, but maintains strong collaborative ties to other faculties at the

educational institutions in the world, according to the QS World University Rankings. A structured mentorship
program is available for newly hired professors. The successful professor will have the opportunity to
collaborate on research activities with the _Faculté de médecine dentaire_ of the _Université de Montréal_. To

The hired professor will join a team of five professors and ten clinical instructor at the Bovine Ambulatory
Clinic where we carry out nearly 4,000 farm visits per year, including 1,050 preventive medicine visits for
dairy cattle. The team has made it its mission to provide quality education for students and state-of-the-art
veterinary medicine services for its customers. Our research program is dynamic and constantly growing
focusing mainly on mammary gland health, uterine infections, calf welfare and lameness.


As a professor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of the _Faculté de _**
_médecine vétérinaire: _
Through your teaching and your research activities, enhancing the reputation of your discipline and playing
an active role in the overall operations of a renowned institution


As such, you will:
-
Participate in didactic teaching of Bovine Population Medicine to undergraduate and graduate
students;
-
Participate in the clinical teaching of the Bovine Population Medicine Service to DMV students and
graduate students (including interns and residents);
-
Develop research activities in the field of Bovine Population Medicine;
>
Contribute to outreach activities in your discipline (publications, conferences and others);
>
Contribute to the overall operations of the University.

**To succeed in this role, you'll need to: -
Have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DMV) of equivalent degree;
>
Have successfully completed a residency in the field of bovine practice or having an equivalent

clinical experience;
>
Be a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP-Dairy Practice) or the

European College of Bovine Health Management (ECBHM) or the American College of Veterinary
Preventive Medicine (ACVPM) will be considered an asset;
-
Applications from board-eligible individuals will also be considered;
>
Have a strong interest in teaching, clinical service and research;
>
Have a M.Sc. or an equivalent research experience;
>
Hold or be eligible to obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the province of Quebec

(Canada) issued by the _Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec_;
>
Have an adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language
or a strong commitment

to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal's Language
Policy. An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French
or improve their communication skills.
