The
Burnaby Hospital Redevelopment Project is a multi-year, multi-phase project with an initial phase one focus on a new inpatient/outpatient tower, support facilities building expansion, and renovation.

The second phase will include a new cancer treatment centre and 110 new inpatient beds.

This project is complex and will be comprised of new construction, demolition, renovations and various upgrades.

Upon completion, the Burnaby campus will have two new patient care towers, an expanded emergency department, a new cancer treatment centre, and ultimately increase its acute care beds from 259 to 400.

a Project Manager - Redevelopment & Major Projects
to provide leadership and accountability for facilities planning, design and construction of all phases of the Burnaby Hospital Redevelopment Project,** and oversee and manage all non-clinical facility related activities.

Your proven experience and real passion for the delivery of healthcare facilities will be essential as you:


  • Effectively lead design and construction planning and implementation consistent with strategic and longrange plans for major hospital development /redevelopment and expansion projects;
  • Ensures facilities are planned, designed and constructed to meet clinical outcomes and align to the latest standards and best practices in health facility design, project delivery, and environmental sustainability;
  • Lead strategic and conceptual planning, design and implementation of the major hospital redevelopment and expansion by working with internal and external stakeholders, consultants and leaders regarding project plans, budgets, scope, progress, status and deliverables;
  • Develops effective processes to assess project risks, identifies risk mitigation strategies and monitors risk throughout the life cycle of projects;
  • Ensures appropriate engagement, review and signoff of project plans and deliverables; establishes ongoing support for initiatives from project sponsors and user groups; keeps stakeholders aware of project status and ensures effective communication channels are in place.
  • Provides overall leadership and managerial direction to the assigned Planners, Leaders, Project Managers, designated staff and contracted consultants in the construction and implementation of the project to achieve target scope, schedules, budget and cash flow.
  • Manages and oversees the management of department human resources including recruitment, professional development, performance assessment and discipline of employees or contractors within the assigned area of responsibility. Disciplines and releases project team members as required.
  • As appropriate/required, assumes the lead role for the design and construction work stream and assembles the project team, negotiates and executes contracts, engages, directs and supervises consultants and staff.
  • Oversees and/or manages the construction documentation and specifications and ensures contracts are awarded in compliance with established governmental regulations and Fraser Health policies.
  • Manages contracts awarded to consultants, contractor and other vendors to ensure compliance and intent
