Information Systems Technician.

  • As part of the IT service group at our Small Hydro Division, located in North Bay, ON., this position is responsible for providing technical and operational support to maintain efficient system operations, in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations. This involves the installation, maintenance, modification and repair of computer and communications equipment and the development, testing and evaluation of computer programs and software packages.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to OPG's public outreach, engagement, and education efforts as part of the company's commitment to growing its social license.
    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Install, maintain, modify, and repair computer and communications equipment.
  • Provide technical and operational support and perform administrative activities to maintain efficient system operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and network malfunctions.
  • Assist in the development and testing of computer programs, investigate, and evaluate new software packages, monitor network problems, and coordinate repairs.
  • Evaluate the acquisition, ongoing operation and enhancement of office systems, methods, and equipment.
  • Give informal presentations with a view to sharing the most important or relevant new technical information obtained through attendance at manufacturers and suppliers training courses.
  • Accountable for the health, safety and wellbeing of self and others, as per established technical/ operating procedures and standards, and includes the development of technical/operating solutions to problems.

EDUCATION

  • 2year diploma in a related field, IT Technician diploma.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 510 years IT technical experience
  • Proficient in troubleshooting printer, hardware, software (e.g., Office O365, AutoCAD), and network issues.
  • Experience with operating systems (e.g., Windows) and their configurations.
  • Knowledge of computer networks, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and TCP/IP.
  • Ability to install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Proficient in documenting technical procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
