Position Description:

Working with the Hamilton Apartments team, as the Program Supervisor, you will be responsible to lead a team providing tenants in Indwell's independent living apartments with supports that help people maintain health and housing.

The Hamilton Apartments team is an interdisciplinary team that supports several buildings that provide our standard level of supports. Throughout our buildings, we support diverse tenant communities, including some buildings that are supported in partnership with Indigenous organizations.

Reporting to the Program Manager, you will provide supervision and support to the Short-Term Assistive Response Team (START), an interdisciplinary team including Registered Nurses, Social Workers, and others as required.

Hours of Work:
Full time - 40 hours per week

  • Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required to meet program needs, including evening and weekend hours. Participation in the oncall 24/7 schedule is required.

Duties for this position include:


  • Supervise and support an interdisciplinary team of employees as assigned, providing leadership and direction. Conduct and document regular checkins with staff and completing employee performance evaluations.
  • Monitor and lead healthy team dynamics, and the development and maintenance of positive team culture.
  • Coordinate and perform oncall responsibilities as required.
  • Oversee a thorough onboarding and orientation process for new employees, students, and volunteers.
  • Participate and lead the staff recruitment process as needed, in collaboration with Program Manager and HR Team.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Program Manager to identify and problem solve around gaps in systems and processes.
  • Participate and contribute to relevant Cross Regional Teams of Indwell.
  • Lead, attend and maintain active involvement in team meetings and other external agency meetings as required.
  • Keep apprised of new research and developments relevant to the team and the role, through workshops, journals, websites and literature. Transfer knowledge back to the team and tenants in the most effective manner available.
  • Influence policy and program development for Indwell.
  • Identify relevant and appropriate trauma informed care practices and lead team in building hope and trust.
  • Oversee the intake process for new tenants and support the team with coordinating moveins and tenant welcome.
  • Ensure consistent and clear direction to program staff around maintaining and protecting tenant health records.
  • Implement ongoing evaluation of the program to ensure effective service to tenants.
  • Support rollout of new assessment tools to program staff and tenants.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community and health partners to support the team and tenants in connecting to community resources and supports.
  • Lead, coordinate and/or participate in case conferences with outside supports.
  • Come alongside tenants to achieve their goals, balancing support with tenant empowerment and independence.
  • Review and participate in Landlord Tenant Board process, as needed, in collaboration with the team.
  • Support the team/staff responses to tenant complaints/concerns.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:


  • Strong communication, listening, interview and assessment skills, as well as critical thinking and problemsolving abilities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ongoing learning and experience around supporting diverse individuals and communities (ie. cultural safety, antiracist and antioppressive practice, etc.)
  • Adaptability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to interpersonal collaborative teamwork and care and continuous professional development.
  • Experience with harm reduction approaches to substance use.
  • Effective crisis intervention skills.

Education/Experience:

Diploma or degree in social work, social service work, nursing or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
