Serving as an integral member of our senior leadership team, as the Business Manager, you will partner with the Department Chair in defining and accomplishing our department's strategic goals and objectives.
You will be adept at leading and operationalizing our vision through effective management of all administrative functions, namely finance, human resources, information technology, research administration and space management.
Your record of building collaborative teams and your proven ability to develop strong relationships with university and hospital partners will help us advance our priorities and the impact of our teaching and research goals.
Essential Qualifications
- University degree or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a senior administrative role, preferably in a University or Hospital setting
- Demonstrated experience in financial and human resource management, including a proven track record of success in leading and mentoring staff in a unionized environment
- An advocate for building diverse and inclusive workplaces and leading successful change
- Strong financial acumen, including experience in complex budgeting and forecasting, and the ability to develop an understanding of advancement operational requirements to effectively operationalize and report on donations
- Experience supporting strategic planning initiatives and managing and overseeing complex administrative processes
- Strong technical skills, and an increased awareness of new and emerging technologies; including learning management systems, registration and evaluation systems and online learning tools
- Highlevel proficiency in MS Office 36
- Demonstrated working knowledge of financial and HR information systems
- Superior oral, and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including proven leadership skills and ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong decisionmaking skills; superior planning and project management skills with a focus on executing and competing tasks under pressure and within tight deadlines
- Exceptional organizational skills and effective problem solving skills, sound judgement and the ability to exercise tact and discretion

- Experience and knowledge of higher education curriculum processes
- Knowledge of the University's academic appointments and promotions process
