The Institutional Equities division of TD Securities provides equity sales, trading, research, underwriting and distribution from offices in Canada, the U.S.

and the UK.


As an Associate in Equity Research, you will have an opportunity to work directly with an equity analyst on the daily publication of company and industry research reports.

This position has a primary focus on the Industrial Products sector (including coverage of companies in the Engineering & Construction sector).

You will hone research skills, gain detailed understanding of the sectors covered and obtain insight into the institutional equity business.

Job Details

  • Work closely with an analyst to develop an idea oriented research product
  • Assist in the preparation of company and industry research reports (e.g. quarterly reporting initiatives, initiating coverage reports and marketing packages)
  • Assist in the preparation of financial models to forecast quarterly and annual earnings, including maintaining and enhancing financial models and databases
  • Compile and evaluate company and industry data
  • Assist in the development of valuation tools
  • Interact with our Institutional Sales & Trading desk
Job Requirements

  • Ability to work independently under strict deadlines, with an attention to detail and output orientation
  • Ability to research a topic from the ground up
  • Strong work ethic, ability to take initiative and balance multiple tasks
  • Superior business writing skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent spreadsheet, quantitative and financial analysis skills
  • Demonstrated interest in capital markets comfortable with finance theory
  • Service orientation and professional attitude presentable to both internal and external clients
  • Flexibility and ability to invest long hours as needed/required by business due to the nature of the role
  • Current or prior experience in research roles in front office capital markets space would be considered a valuable asset
  • Strong preference for finance and business qualifications must be comfortable working with financial statements
  • Designations such as CA/CPA, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program or P.Eng. are considered an asset for this role
