What can I expect to do in this role?: You will:
- Oversee and provide expertise to stakeholders, municipalities and staff on the development and implementation of affordable, social and supportive housing and related issues
- Provide input into policy and program development to foster and promote affordable housing within municipalities
- Provide input into municipal land use policy documents (Official Plans, Community Improvement Plans) to ensure the documents are in line with applicable housing legislation, policies, and guidance.
- Provide leadership to project teams including developing work plans, assigning and reviewing work and providing input to performance
- Manage projects from conceptualization through to implementation
- Lead and conduct comprehensive housing market studies
- Coordinate responses to issues, including information gathering, drafting responses, and briefing senior management
How do I qualify?:
Specialized Knowledge:
- You have knowledge of provincial affordable, social, supportive and market housing programs, strategy, policies and procedures and awareness of local housing market conditions to direct and advise staff on implementation and management of marketing programs to promote the development of affordable and market housing and address homelessness.
- You have an understanding of the principles and practices of land use planning and approval process, municipal finance and affordable housing and local housing market conditions.
- You have the ability to develop policy options, offer program solutions and provide recommendations to resolve complex issues relating to government directions/priorities for affordable housing and homelessness elimination.
Team Leadership and Project Management:
- You can lead various projects and working teams, involving multiple stakeholders, to meet ministry needs and within defined timelines.
- You have strong leadership skills to influence partnership agreements and resolve key stakeholder issues while ensuring best interests are served.
- You have leadership skills and experience organizing projects and teams, assigning work, monitoring progress, and providing guidance, technical advice and mentoring.
Relationship Management:
- You have the ability to promote relationships and networks with key stakeholders (the public, nongovernment organizations, other ministries and levels of government) to collaborate, seek input, exchange information, and to consult on, and determine/influence strategic positions that will promote the development of affordable housing.
- You can lead consultations with municipal representatives and private industry to promote the development of affordable housing at the local level by providing advice
- You can work closely with ministries and agencies related to service coordination and training, to support achievement of government objectives for affordable housing
Research, Analytical and Problem-Solving:
- You are able to analyze, evaluate and conceptualize housing program strategies and plans to lead the identification, research and development of policy and service design/program options, including impact analysis, and development of options and recommendations.
