How you will create impact:


  • Mentors and coaches underwriting team with respect to technical underwriting issues, including methodology, philosophy, decision making, problem solving and processes.
  • Responsible to retain/maintain a profitable assigned portfolio of business consisting of complex, high profile clients and block arrangements of all financial arrangement type.
  • Strategize and negotiate with key stakeholders regarding plan design, deviations, expenses, price, rate guarantees and rate increase capping to attain new business and renew existing business.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry related information, including mental health and wellness initiatives, economic changes, provincial drug plans and updates to legislation
  • Responsible for the interpretation of underwriting guidelines, principles, rating analysis and pricing questions posed by Underwriters, Underwriting Support, Sales and Brokers/Consultants.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with Sales, Brokers, Consultants, and TPA's which contributes to our positive company reputation; retention and growth strategies.

To join our team:


  • You have seven years of experience in Group Benefits Insurance or a related field.
  • You have a postsecondary education in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Statistics, Math or Actuarial.
  • You have the Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation, Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA) certification, Associate, Customer Service (ACS) certification.
  • You have expert knowledge of Group Underwriting principals including the manual and experience rating methodology.
  • You have thorough knowledge and understanding of group insurance Financial Arrangements including Refund and Retention, Pooled and Administrative Services Only (ASO) and Block arrangement concepts.
