Full-Time (1.0 EFT) Permanent Position
Salary Range - $41, ,352 per annum
The Family Support Coordinator provides direct services to families in their private residence through ongoing assessment, service intervention planning, crisis intervention, case management and Family Support Worker placements.
The Coordinator also provides direct supervision to a team of In-Home Family Support Workers, including supervision on all aspects of Family Support Worker performance.
Listed below is a summary of the qualifications and responsibilities of the position.Key Responsibilities and Activities
- Through phone contact and home visits, perform ongoing comprehensive assessments of family needs, select and schedule the most appropriate Family Support Worker to fit the client needs and develop an appropriate service plan.
- Supervise Family Support Workers within assigned case load, providing schedule details, coaching, feedback, performance assessments and performance management.
- Perform case management, referrals, and advocacy work on behalf of the clients with other service providers.
- Conduct home visits to follow up client progress and to ensure high quality of service provision.
- Assess for imminent risks to client family and Support workers. Develop a safety plan and/or referral to appropriate service to address imminent risk.
- Communicate within the agency and to community to improve access to suitable programs
- Bachelor of Social Work degree is required, with current registration with the Manitoba College of Social Workers.
- Minimum of two years' related experience working in the social services sector with children, youth and/or parents impacted by poverty, trauma, mental illness, intimate partner violence, child welfare involvement, addictions, disability, racism and colonization.
- Mental Health First Aid is required
- Case management and service planning experience is required.
- Deescalating Potentially Violent Situations or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is an asset
- Experience working together with parents to build and strengthen parentchild relationships.
- Experience identifying and reporting indicators of child abuse or a child in need of protection
- Experience in supervising and coaching employees is preferred.
- Experience working with Procura and Penelope Software is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of attachment theory and child development
- Knowledge and understanding of the impact of poverty, trauma, mental healthrelated issues, domestic violence, child welfare involvement, addictions, disability, racism and colonization on the functioning of families
- Ability to practice participant centered work and to work from a trauma informed approach
- Knowledge of local community needs and resources is required
- Demonstrated problem solving and crisis/risk assessment and intervention skills is required
- Demonstrated communication and conflict management skills including writing skills, listening and observation skills
- Proven ability to respectfully collaborate within a team
- Demonstrated time management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to deal with competing priorities and a busy environment
- Demonstration of cultural competency to work effectively and respectfully with people from different cultures and diverse backgrounds, including consideration of how social, historical contexts and imbalance of power have impacted people's experiences
- Ability to practice cultural humility; acknowledging oneself as a learner when understanding others' personal experiences, as well as demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning and selfreflection
- Ability to work evenings, as required by client service needs. Occasional weekend work required.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required for travel throughout the City of Winnipeg.
