ROLE OF A SKIPPER
Skipper Role Overview


The Skipper role is designed to ensure the Corporate Objectives of maximizing profitability and Owner, Guest & Staff happiness for their resort by following the 3V Philosophy of Visibility, Velocity and Value.

The Skipper is a strong sales driver, profit focused and people oriented.

This Position is key to managing activities in the beach/marina and sustaining positive relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction and strong financial returns for investors while generating revenue through chargeable rentals of equipment.

The Skipper is responsible for all waterfront activities, equipment and the safe operation and maintenance of all resort boats and pontoon tours.

Responsibilities:


  • Tour Operation and Sales
a. Greet and familiarize guests with the beach and boat. Take exceptional care of the guests on board as well as the boat, be friendly, genuine and communicative.
b.

Create interesting routes and points of interest for the boat tours; be knowledgeable of the area and its history, the resort, its amenities and other local attractions.

c. Recognize and encourage upselling opportunities for rebooking, food and merchandise sales during tours.
d.

Promote rental sales, know the prices for all water activities and equipment and operate according to all necessary criteria, including safety checklists, boat licenses and age restrictions.

e. Accurately check and evaluate equipment daily, including canoes, kayaks, fishing boats, waterbikes/walkerz/balls, SUPs and paddleboats
f. Ensure safety equipment is in proper working condition, including life jackets, paddles, oars and safety kits.
g. Maintain accurate equipment inventory records.
h. Ensure all non-motorized equipment is kept clean and available.
i. Ensure pontoon boat and all fishing boats and motors are clean, operable and ready for rental.
j. Ensure that all safety equipment is sanitized after each use
2.
a. Train, monitor, coach and mentor 1st mate(s) on the correct and safe operation of all boats and water equipment.
b.

Set 1st mate up for seamless shift coverage, ensuring pontoon tours and experiences remain consistent with the same high standard of service and level of knowledge.

c. Ensure safety of all team members around water and boating equipment.
d.

Set, encourage and achieve realistic daily and weekly performance targets for self and team members including pontoon tours/tubing, fishing boat and water equipment rentals.

e. Ensure beach is raked daily and chairs set up/organized by 8:00a.m.
f. Ensure docks are in good condition and safe
g. Ensure non-motorized water equipment area is clean, organized, well-presented.

The Skipper is responsible for the accuracy and completion of all resort related administration, paperwork and document requirements including:
