OCAD U is currently seeking outstanding, creative and collaborative teachers in the following sessional opportunities/opportunity.


GART-1040: Drawing Across Disciplines (1.0 Credits)**- (

Winter Semester:
January - April 19, 2024; Wednesday & Thursday; 8:30AM to 11:30AM)_


COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Drawing today extends far beyond the pencil.

Accomplished with different tools and media for a variety of purposes, drawing is foundational to many artistic disciplines students will pursue in their future studies.

This cross-disciplinary studio orients students to art practices at OCAD U in a supportive environment valuing local and global cultural diversity.

Students develop an inventory of individual and collaborative methods, gain group work skills, and explore how risk-taking and openness further critical awareness and personal expression.

The course meets twice weekly. Activities include hands-on workshops, gallery visits, dialogue with guests artists, and orientation to community organizations and student services.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Teaching and teaching-related responsibilities may include but are not limited to: course outline development, studio preparation and delivery inclusive of lectures, critiques, grading, mid-term evaluations and final evaluations/reviews, participation in Faculty and program meetings; including responsibility for health & safety and meeting academic and curricular requirements and deadlines.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • The successful applicant should have a terminal degree in art, design or relevant discipline and/or equivalent professional/practical experience
  • Experience teaching at the postsecondary level is considered an asset, equivalent relevant experience will be considered
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and experience promoting a respectful and inclusive work and learning environment for students, staff, and faculty
