Responsibilities

  • Fibresplicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre sites and links
  • Build fibre optic splice closures (FOSCs), prep, and splice OSP fibre cables into various FOSCs for fibre size 12 FOC to 432 FOC
  • Fibre dressing in pedestals, service boxes, vaults, and manholes
  • Fusion splice Outside Plant and inside buildings MDU
  • Testing fiber with the use of an OTDR, Power Meter, Live Fibre Identifier, VFL
  • Completing all related administrative tasks, time and material reporting, inspection reports, inventory reports, etc.
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices and procedures.
  • May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1year work experience with fiber fusion splicing, line work
  • Familiarity with optical test equipment such as power meter, OTDR is an asset
  • Be able to carry and also climb a 28foot extension ladder.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job which include lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, clearly identify colored cables.
  • Certification in confined space and/or first aid CPR is an asset
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, teamwork and collaborative abilities
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Knowledge of bonding and grounding telecommunications plant

Salary:
$35.00-$40.00 per hour

Licence/Certification:

  • Class G License (required)
