Consulting Arborist


Job Type:

Responsibilities for Consulting Arborist:


  • Identification, inspection, and reporting of trees and brush along power line corridors.
  • Consultation and consenting with landowners and/or stakeholders.
  • Complete quality assurance and quality control auditing, inspections, and compliance based on client requirements.
  • Discuss and negotiate access issues with stakeholders/property owners.
  • Safeguards employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Helps enforce onthejob safety practices.
  • Carries and utilizes materials, tools, and equipment at the work site.
  • Services trucks and equipment. Keeps trucks and other assigned equipment in a neat and orderly fashion. Reports the need for equipment and truck repairs to the supervisor.
  • Uphold CNUC core values and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Must adhere to CNUC's "Employee/ Contractor Smoking, Alcohol and Drug Policy Minimum Requirements" handbook.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

What We Require:


  • Tree identification skills and invasive tree knowledge, plus knowledge of tree growth rates
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent customer service skills a priority
  • Ability to travel and work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
  • Proficient in map navigation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and data collection software (GIS experience a plus)

Travel will be required:


  • Employees are expected to be fit for work and remain fit for work throughout their workday or shift or when on call

Extras We Like to See:


  • Integrated Resource Management diploma, Forestry Resource Technology diploma, and/or BSc in Forestry
  • Ability to obtain ISA Arborist Certification within 12 months upon job offer
  • One or more years of Utility Vegetation Management (UVM)
    fieldrelated experience

About the Consulting Arborist Position:

A Consulting Arborist is an expert in forestry and inspects vegetation surrounding utility infrastructure.

You'll keep communities informed about the trees and power lines, while ensuring safe delivery of their power and pursuing opportunities to develop sustainable habitat throughout the utility right-of-way.

In this role, your office is the great outdoors Our Consulting Arborists support the oversight of vegetation projects, including field operations such as tree assessment, tree trimming, and other work as required.

This position requires Consulting Arborists to be in the field doing inspections up to 95% of the time.
