About Us:
The Sentence Administration Unit manages and accurately interprets complex legal documents pertaining to holding and releasing of inmates received from various stakeholders including courts, policing agencies, sheriffs, the judiciary etc.
Role:
Do you have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills paired with exceptional attention to detail? Do you have a high degree of independence to be agile and thrive under pressure? If so, there is currently one opening at the Calgary Correctional Centre.
- Maintenance of offender warrant files
- Comprehending and correctly interpreting legal documents, court (JOIN
- Justice On-Line Information Network), and police (CPIC
- Canadian Police Information Centre) data systems
- Preparing, managing and updating inmate legal files
- Complex sentence calculations, including Conditional Sentence Orders
- Interpreting complex legal documents & dispositions prepared by the court to ensure lawful detention or release of an accused
- Liaising with Sheriffs and Court stakeholders to coordinate the transportation of inmates to their court dates
- Data entry within ORCA, Justice Online Information Network (JOIN), Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) systems
- General administrative responsibilities
Qualifications:
High School Diploma
plus three (3) years of Sentence Administration related experience which includes administrative work, data entry, and/or legal administration.
Equivalency
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 years of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year education
Assets:
- Postsecondary education in Criminal Justice or Legal Administration
- Experience providing legal administration assistance
- Experience reading and interpreting legal documents
- Experience with Government systems such as JOIN, ORCA, EMDT or CPIC
- Experience with computer programs related to RCMP and Provincial Courts
- Safeair Training

$1,913.27 to $ 2,343.49 bi-weekly ($49,936 - $61,165/year)
Please note this Salary is effective from September 1, 2023.

This is a
permanent full-time position, located in Calgary, AB
Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Work Location:
Ave NW, Calgary, AB. T3R 1J3
If not already completed via previous employment within the department, the successful applicant will be required to attend a three week paid training program held in Edmonton.
There is no public transportation to the Centre, thus access to your own transportation is required. Parking is available.
