With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world.

Sudbury is also home to several administrative sites serving both the Ontario Operations as well as all our North Atlantic Operations.


Port Colborne is home to our Nickel Refinery where raw materials from our Sudbury operations are processed into electrocobalt and precious metals and serves as a distribution centre for finished nickel products.


The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Logistics
Administrator to join our
Materials Management and Central Canada Logistics Group in
Sudbury.


The Logistics Administrator will provide administration to Ontario Operations and Corporate Marketing for the procurement and administration of logistics services for final and intermediate products, raw materials and supplies.

A Logistics Administrator receives mínimal direction and must organize and prioritize their own work and use time effectively to maximize productivity and meet commitments.


Accountabilities

In this position you will:

  • Manage and schedule logistics services to meet truck, rail and vessel requirements, to and from various Vale Canada sites and for imports and exports of materials
  • Organize and handle logistics work for inbound or outbound sea containers.
  • Track the movement of trucks, containers, railcars using external portals and provide required reports
  • Administer all logistics functions with due diligence and integrity, adhering to all legal and company policies and procedures.
  • Enter all required information into SAP for procurement and accounting purposes such as requisitions, purchase orders, service entry sheets to facilitate invoice payments.
  • Communicate with customers and Vale finance to expedite invoice payments and followup on any outstanding issues
  • Record in SAP and excel as needed, all data related to inventory movement and control for various materials
  • Monitor contract values in SAP and advise on available funds when required
  • Coordinate with Vale marketing, operating plants and carriers to ensure timely and efficient shipment of finished and intermediate products, raw materials and supplies.
  • Compile data into reports and present to Supervisor and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation and files in electronic and paper format.
  • Utilize knowledge of shipping Dangerous Goods to ensure all regulations are met.
  • Carryout tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or their designate to achieve the desired results within an agreed upon timeline and end state.
  • Through logistics contacts, good judgement and company policy, resolve any issues or escalate the problem to the Supervisor.
  • Reconcile, correct as necessary, and report scale weights to accounting and operations.
  • Reconcile inventories at month end, investigate any discrepancies and communicate accordingly
  • Perform tasks in field as required
  • Focus on results.
  • Some travel may be required.

Qualifications and Skills:


Computer Skills:

Comprehensive knowledge and experience using various internal Vale systems such as Premium Enterprise, Business Objects, SAP for inventory control, requisitions, SES, PO's etc.

Must possess strong keyboarding skills and advanced software skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).


Other Required Skills:


Judgement Skills - able to consider the situation, the issues and the people involved. This involves identifying, defining and analyzing problems or situations. It also involves the use of reason and the formulation of viable solutions and potential improvements.


Process Knowledge - Understanding of Ontario Surface Operations plants/process and logístical processes required.


Multitasking Skills - Ability to decipher and prioritize multiple tasks.


Presentation Skills - Able to present moderately complex information to a wide variety of audiences.


Writing and Reading Skills - Able to accurately inform, capture interest and gain support in a clear and concise manner. Bilingualism would be an asset.


Computer Skills - Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, SAP, MS Teams, Business Objects.
