The Opportunity


We are currently looking for self-directed, engaging, empathetic Full Time Supportive Housing Child and Youth Support Worker to join our growing team.

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, this position will provide support to youth in various locations throughout Langley with a specific focus on developing social and life skills in a collaborative team environment.

This position supports 3 supportive housing programs for youth between the ages of 12 to 19 in the Langley's.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the living environment for program participants is trauma informed, inclusive, comfortable and nonjudgmental.
  • Supports all Specialized Home Support Program participants displaying distress and/or emotional dysregulation by providing supportive conversations and coping strategies.
  • Provides supportive advice and emotional support to program participants on a oneone and/or group basis.
  • Provides transportation and accompanies program participants to support them in attending appointments and healthy community activities.
  • Ensure that program participant's personal needs are met by supporting participants with basic personal hygiene, preparing healthy and nutritious meals, and providing access to community resources.
  • Participates in the assessment, goal setting and progress evaluation of program participants individualized service plans.
  • Ensures that logbooks and other documentation such as daily activity and incident reports are legible and completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintains professional boundaries with program participants.
  • Ensures communication and liaises with participant's support system such as family, school, professionals and the community.
  • Monitors program participant's medications in accordance with established policy, guidelines and training.
  • Performs housekeeping duties in support of health and safety regulations. This may include but is not limited to vacuuming, dusting, emptying garbage, sanitizing, cleaning and laundry. Reports maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • 1. Education and Knowledge_
  • Diploma in a related human/social service Field
  • Current knowledge of issues and resources related to vulnerable youth
  • Primary source credential verification
  • 2. Training and Experience_
  • Two (2) years recent related youth experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Current First Aid
  • 3. Skills and Abilities_
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective problemsolving, conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to be flexible, resourceful and possess good time management skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, including lifting, and bending.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of computers (Microsoft Word/Excel)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Acts, pertinent regulations, policy, procedures and other statutory and certification requirements (such as the Mental Health Act; Adult Guardianship Act
