About the Role

Maintain project schedules, non-recurring engineering (NRE) cost forecasts, and earned-value updates to support Project Engineering management team.

Responsible for generating an integrated master schedule (IMS), performing critical path analysis, monitoring progress, assisting with monthly earned-value reports, assessing project status and helping to identify performance issues in advance.

Obtain inputs from functional group members, leads and managers to ensure project schedules and NRE cost forecasts are accurate and up to date.

Participate in meetings with Project Leads and cross-functional teams to update schedules and forecasts. Assist Project Leads with communicating Critical Path to Project Team and Senior Management.


Responsibilities:


  • Support Project Leads to generate and update the IMS and NRE cost forecasts for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects
  • Interface with cross functional team members to update schedules and forecasts to reflect current status
  • Provide regular schedule updates and schedule adherence metrics for use in regular reports, presentations and planning reviews
  • Consolidate and integrate Engineering labour supply and demand to generate a staffing profile
  • Participate in Bids & Proposal Activities to prepare initial IMS
  • Integrate new product development schedules with Operations demand schedule into IMS
  • Facilitate schedule analysis and risk mitigation with project team members through weekly meetings, minimize adverse impacts and maximizing opportunities to increase schedule certainty
  • Analyze and report on the impact to schedules associated with potential projects and execution scope changes
  • Collect schedule inputs from functional leads and provide summary reports to Project Leads
  • Complete ETC updates monthly with project leads to update labour and nonlabour forecasts
  • Support set up of new projects in ERP-LN
  • Generate material demand as needed for projects and track delivery to the project
Recommended Skills and Experiences

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to handle multiple tasks and effectively balance priorities
  • Proven ability to deal directly with internal and external customers
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools with emphasis on MS Project, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Advanced knowledge of schedule analysis techniques and ability to establish and interpret metrics
  • Advanced knowledge of Earned value techniques, work breakdown structures
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
Desired Education and Experience

  • Experience in project planning, scheduling, and forecasting methods and procedures
  • Strong understanding of new product development processes (Engineering function)
  • Technical background an asset
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
