Description

Reporting to the Manager, Academic Operations, Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS), the Program Lead (PL), Academic Upgrading (AU) provides lead logístical and administrative support for all academic programming and activities across all campuses.

The PL provides a comprehensive range of services and organizational support to the Manager, Academic Operations, faculty, and students to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the AU program.


The Program Lead provides lead support to the Manager, Academic Operations to ensure the success of AU programming and day-to-day operations.

The incumbent provides training and guidance to other AU support staff and students on departmental policies and procedures.

The PL is the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders including students, faculty, and parents/guardians, and is responsible for answering, troubleshooting and triaging their questions and concerns including guiding part-time and full-time faculty, and support staff on the policies and procedures as it relates to AU guidelines.

What You'll be Doing

Across all campuses, providing lead hand operational coordination and support for all AU programming and services.

Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the program providing support to other AU support staff and students.


Taking the lead on the inventory, tracking and ordering of course materials, textbooks, program and office supplies, working closely with the Financial Support Specialist, other support staff, faculty, the bookstore, various publishers, and vendors, ensuring timely delivery of materials and associated distribution.


Supporting students by providing information regarding pathways to employment or community services and/or further post-secondary (via the Ontario College Application Service, OCAS) or alternative education.

Assisting faculty with timely grade input and leading the facilitation of grade changes.

Organizing and conducting training programs for all new staff and new procedures, including AU programming and policies.


Leading the coordination, planning and delivery of program-related events while working closely with the Marketing and Communications Lead, faculty, support staff colleagues and other Sheridan departments.


Contributing to the day-to-day budget evaluation and ensures budgetary information is up-to-date, ensuring we reach AU targets for the semester and year.

Performing Other duties as assigned.

You have exceptional organizational, planning, follow through and time management skills with an ability to work independently and within a team.

Your experience with collecting, analyzing, and reporting data allows you to think critically and solve complex problems.


You bring highly developed presentation skills and excellent public speaking skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse student population and the ability to relate to a variety of audiences.

Ability to think logically, evaluate several variables at once, and maintain a high degree of concentration.

3-year diploma/degree in Business Administration, Finance, Social Sciences, or a related field of study

5 years of experience within an educational institution, community setting, and/or administrative/office environment, with a demonstrated progression of more complex roles over the career span (Equivalency will be considered)

Progressively responsible experience providing administrative and academic coordination and support to ensure operational requirements and effectiveness.

Demonstrated knowledge of college organizational and operational structure.


A broad knowledge of the Ontario college system and the ability to develop extensive knowledge about Sheridan and its program offerings, financial aid and admission requirements.

Advanced reading, proofreading, writing, and mathematical skills.

Experience in overseeing and tracking departmental budgets, working accurately with numbers is essential.


Highly developed presentation skills and excellent public speaking skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse student population and the ability to relate to a variety of audiences.

Proficiently in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and online college systems including PeopleSoft.
