    DMC is currently looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis, based in our Vaughan, Ontario location.

    The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for conceptualizing, planning, coordinating, and executing the structural design of buildings and structures related to underground mining, including headframes, surface buildings, conveyors, crushers, and loading stations.

    Oversees the design, engineering, development and review of plans and criteria for a variety of activities, assesses feasibility of proposed plans, projects, and equipment.


    • Participates in the planning and creation of drawings and designs involving detailed analysis and design of structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber and building systems.
    • Investigates and resolves problems as they relate to structural engineering and creates unique designs and concepts to handle difficult engineering demands.
    • Executes the structural design of buildings and structures related to underground mining, including headframes, buildings, conveyor galleries, crusher stations bunkers, and loading stations.
    • Evaluates and reviews all engineering work before being released including designs, drawings, code, and integration with other disciplines.
    • Ensures design compliance with relevant engineering standards and codes, as well as internal QA/QC procedures, for own work and work of teammates.
    • Conducts site visits, liaises with clients and site personnel as required.
    • Takes responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to DMC.
    • 8+ years structural design experience on heavy industry projects.
    • Advanced understanding of structural codes, standards, principles, theories, practices, and applications in use of modern engineering.
    • Demonstrated ability in design and analysis of structural systems including steelwork and reinforce concrete to Canadian design codes.
    • Intimate knowledge of FEA structural design and analysis software, such as RISA 3D and Robot.
    • Intimate knowledge of BIM software such as Revit & Navisworks is an asset.
    • Experience in the mining industry is an asset, but not mandatory.
