Reporting to the Manager of Emergency, the Coordinator, Operations is responsible to work collaboratively to ensure improvement and excellence within the department.

This includes achievement of strategic goals and objectives by providing guidance, direction and support, in keeping with STEGH's mission, vision and values.


The Coordinator, Operations is responsible for the leadership of a multi-disciplinary staff (including nurses, clerical and support staff), approving time and payroll, developing work schedules and administering HR processes and protocols related to providing orientation and training, delivering some performance management, discipline, staff engagement and recruitment, auditing of nursing documentation and standards of practice, and provide at the elbow coaching to new and novice staff.


In collaboration with the Manager, the Coordinator, Operations is also responsible for guiding day-to-day departmental work including bed flow, staffing and process improvement initiatives.

The Coordinator, Operations will demonstrate accountability and commitment to develop a work environment that exemplifies inter-professional and ethical practice professional autonomous decision-making empowerment, integrative thinking and problem solving.


The Coordinator, Operations will provide expertise and work collaboratively with the manager and their leadership team colleagues to ensure operational efficiencies of the department(s), ultimately allowing the organization to accomplish its goal of _"Together, creating health care excellence for our community.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Responsible for daily operations of the department, providing on going leadership and coaching to staff in the department.
  • Investigate and respond to issues, complaints and procedural issues
  • Carry out and action monthly clinical documentation reviews
  • In collaboration with the Leader, establishes and focuses on mid to long term department goals and objectives for the program

HOURS:


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:


  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably with recent Emergency Department experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of unionized work environments and collective agreements
  • Demonstrated behaviours supporting our core values/mission
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering results with excellent financial and quality management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to patient and staff safety at STEGH
  • Selfdirected and highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of leaders and stakeholders
  • Recognition, understanding and demonstrated Emotional Intelligence (EI), particularly emotional selfawareness, assertiveness, optimism, stress tolerance and empathy
  • Experience leading in an accountable culture using evidence based leadership practices
  • Experience in a LEAN environment with a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt in healthcare preferred
