The role of Manager, Global Security Project and Exploration is responsible for managing all aspects of security for Kinross properties while in the project stage.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties
1) Provides leadership and guidance for security related matters affecting Kinross projects on a global level
a. Manage and direct security plans for all global projects.
b. Identify key risks associated with specific projects and develop mitigation efforts to minimize impact.
c. Develop security strategies and standards that are aligned with project scope, objectives and requirements.
d. Develop specifications and design of electronic security systems, procedures, and personnel requirements for all projects.
e. Provide leadership for all Project related security concerns.
f. Prepare scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility reports regarding security requirements.
g. Ensure security requirements are delivered according to the Master Project Schedule.
h. Develop contract specifications and manage contracts to completion.
i. Maintain budgetary controls over security related items.
j. Leverage and influence site and regional security resources as required.
k. Integrate Global Security standards and programs to ensure protection of project assets.
l. Collaborate with EPCM firms and contractors to develop security procedure.
2) Provide guidance for security related matters affecting exploration activities
a. Develop and manage security procedures and protocols for all exploration activities. Plan will include intelligence gathering, travel security, personnel and asset protection.
b. Integrate Global Security standards and programs into exploration activities.
c. Manage security equipment (GPS tracking devices, satellite phones, etc) necessary to accomplish exploration objectives.
d. Liaison with exploration corporate and regional leadership to identify potential risks and provide solutions to mitigate those risks.
3) Ensures project and exploration site security operations align with the Global Security Standardization Program
a. Oversight of the development and implementation of Global Security strategies at sites project and exploration phase
b. Ensure Global Security strategies are being correctly implemented and followed at sites project and exploration phase
c. Accountability to Global Security for compiling site self-assessment and annual audit data to monitor effectiveness. Conduct security reviews, internal self-assessments, and audits.
d. Prepare monthly activity reports for the Vice President, Global Security.
e. Provide re-occurring site assistance visits to ensure compliance with Global Security standards and guidelines.
f. Responsible for senior leadership personnel protection and security
g. Assist in the development of table top exercises designed to test the effectiveness of the security systems.
h. Professionally develop project site security personnel in security tactics and strategies.
4) Security business partner support
a. Prepare country threat analysis for use during business decisions.
b. Gather and develop information on the security situation in country and business relevant factors to advice the business
