Position Overview - At NVDPL, we believe in building community and relationships, nurturing innovation while honouring tradition, embracing exploration, creativity, and fun, and supporting human potential and enabling excellence.
- North Vancouver District Public Library is recruiting a Temporary Full-Time Communications Assistant for one year to join our team to help promote awareness of the library, its service and programs.
What you'll be doing
- assisting with the production of print and digital promotional materials
- monitoring and maintaining web content, e-newsletter content, and library program content
- contributing to engaging social media content to market library offerings
- drafting press releases, correspondence and administrative reports
- assisting with the planning and execution of special events
What you'll need to succeed
- Completion of Grade 12 with complementary experience or training related to the position
- Familiarity of applicable design and publishing tools that support communications and promotional work, eg. Adobe InDesign
- Sound knowledge of library and community services, including local media and contacts
- Ability to review content from a wide variety of sources and modify for consistency
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with using social media for marketing purposes
- Ability to work collaboratively and enjoy working on a small team
It's great if you have
- Experience with writing and maintaining website content
- An interest in content creation, photography and basic videography
- Sound knowledge of social media channels and scheduling software
- Experience with creating enewsletters
- The hourly pay rate for this unionized position starts at $ rates), based on a 35hour workweek.
