    As part of this initiative, our team is looking for a senior-level Mechanical Engineer/Team Lead to join the Engineering Design Organization in one of our Calgary or Vancouver office.

    Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

    • Managing the Western Canada mechanical design team, consisting of engineers and designers
    • Work with the Business Group Leader (BGL) to establish the resourcing, systems and processes to deliver services to meet client expectations and requirements
    • Work with the BGL to develop, coach and mentor the team
    • Schedule and manage workload for the team
    • Lead execution of existing and new projects
    • Ensure timely completion of project deliverables, be able to handle several projects at once and determine priorities, including demonstrating sound judgement and decisiveness
    • Supervise and lead the production of engineering designs, drawings, details and specifications from concept to final design for tender and contract packages
    • Coordinate all aspects of the process mechanical design including being responsible for the design
    • Use of applicable codes and standards in the design of pressure vessels, process tanks, process piping and pumping systems
    • Performing hydraulics calculations and stress analyses of critical piping systems for chemical process plants
    • Developing specifications for procurement of pumps, piping, compressors, blowers, material handling, and industrial ventilation systems
    • Technical review and quality control of design drawings and documents
    • Complete designs following budget and schedule
    • Develop and implement QA/QC processes for project work
    • Mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff, and work with CAD staff
    • Communicate and work with other project team members to provide quality service to clients to ensure that all documentation conforms to client/company standards
    • Site inspections of existing infrastructure as well as those under construction
    • Provide construction support, including review of submittals and requests for information
    • Support DMs (Design Managers) on proposals by providing the technical scope of a project and the level of effort required to complete mechanical designs and deliverables
    • Represent GHD at client meetings when required

    What you will bring to the team:

    • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • Licensed Professional Engineer
    • 15 years of process mechanical design experience including gas handling, compression, and treatment systems for natural gas, landfill gas, biogas, and renewable natural gas streams; hydrogen handling, blending and storage for renewable gas projects
    • Experience with Canadian Biogas Code ANSI/CSA B149.6.
    • Knowledge of CSA Z662 (Oil and Gas Piepline Systems)
    • Strong design abilities in solid body mechanics, thermal fluid science and dynamics of rotating equipment
    • Demonstrated experience in process design delivery for larger, multi-discipline projects
    • Contract administration
    • Detailed understanding of local agency codes and standards;
    • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities;
    • Strong written and verbal communication with ability to work both independently and in a team
    • Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail
    • Experience working in a Design Build, EPC, and alternative delivery models would be considered an asset

    Salary range: $122,304 - $183,456 based on experience.
