Financial Debt Recovery Ltd. is seeking a Collections Litigation Paralegal to become a part of our growing team. In this role, you will provide overall support to our Corporate Counsel and legal team.

The position is an onsite position with work at home opportunities available after in office performance is evaluated.

Job Duties:

Collection Calls

  • Conduct outbound calls, related to negotiating payments, updating customer information, and other customer service inquiries
  • Negotiate payment terms and methods using critical thinking and probing questions to overcome objections
  • Maintain compliance by use of proper policy, procedures, and script.
  • Accurately record all details of communications and activities within the system
  • Proactively monitor and investigate accounts to locate pertinent information to aid collection
  • Utilize various trace tools to locate consumer information
  • Maintain a clean and secure work environment
Preliminary Investigation

  • Obtain all documentation from client concerning the account, including information about the debtor, invoices, contracts, promissory notes, payments, and related correspondence.
  • Investigate public records for information about debtor's financial status, including real estate records and prior judgments.
  • Draft demand letter to debtor.
  • Search for assets.
  • Skip trace.
Commencement of Formal Action

  • Draft complaint and prepare exhibits in support of complaint.
  • Monitor date for response to complaint and, if appropriate, draft motion for default judgment.
  • Subject to local rules/authority, appear in court at hearing for claim for plaintiff.
  • Subject to local rules/authority, prepare, file and serve documents for examination of debtor; appear in court and conduct examination.
  • Draft journal entry, default or otherwise.
  • Obtain certified copy of judgment transcript.
Post-Judgement Activities

  • If necessary, arrange for transfer of judgment to all courts having jurisdiction over debtor.
  • Draft wage and/or bank garnishment forms.
  • Draft writ of execution.
  • Abstract the judgment, obtain a writ of execution, and request that the sheriff attempt to collect what is owed on the write of execution.
  • Draft notice of lien on real property.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements for attorney/client approval.
  • Correspond with client informing status of collection.
  • Maintain judgment account worksheet to record payments, collection costs, and court costs.
  • Draft release of judgment or release of lien.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of previous experience as a paralegal
  • Familiarity with legal research
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Deadline and detailoriented

$3,500.00-$4,500.00 per month
