What you will do:


Reporting to the Associate Dean, Continuous Professional Learning in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Sciences, the Manager, IELTS and Professional Learning is responsible for the planning, development, organization, staffing, implementation, marketing and ongoing management of the IELTS Test Centre at the Humber College North Campus and other IELTS test venues, including the Lakeshore campus, and other locations beyond Humber.

In addition, the incumbent supports the planning, delivery, and development of CPL programming. This includes business development and marketing of CPL programs.

Key duties include, but not limited to:

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of all Humber's IELTS Test Centres, including pre-planning, registration, organizing staff resources, test-day administration, post-test assessment and recording and submission of scores. This also includes the managing the implementation and delivery of computer delivered IELTS testing provided during the week and on weekends at all Humber's IELTS Test locations.
  • Recruits, develops, manages, trains, and evaluates a team of highly trained and motivated test examiners, invigilators, and support staff and maintains an uptodate roster of trained personnel. This should be in line with the roles and responsibilities of the administrator as outlines by the Professional Support Network Manual.
  • Liaises and coordinates with the British Council on IELTS Test Centre operations and personnel, as well as mandated audits and training. In addition, responds to protocols and compliance directives by the Regional IELTS Team and the British Council.
  • Oversee the response to stakeholder enquires. In collaboration with support staff, oversee the timely and effective response and resolution to daily customer service interactions (online, inperson and by phone). This includes deescalating a wide variety of concerns and complaints from test takers and learners.
  • Actively engage in investigating and identifying business development opportunities that aligns with Humber's strategic priorities and core business for both the IELTS Test Centre and CPL programs. This includes building relationships with internal departments, staff, and students to promote the IELTS Test Centres and CPL programs at Humber College. This is in addition to developing partnerships with external clients, industry, and community partners within Canada and internationally.
  • In collaboration with the AD, CPL, develop a marketing and business development plan for each fiscal year to promote IELTS and CPL programs within Humber, domestically and internationally, as necessary.
  • Supports the overall operations of the CPL department. This includes but is not limited to supporting the development of processes, procedures, proposals, to maximize efficiency.
  • Works Saturdays and Sundays as required by the testing schedule/large test dates.

What you bring to the role:


Education:


  • TESL Ontario certification or equivalent.

Experience/Skills:


  • Minimum of 5 years of combined managerial experience working directly with adult learners, test takers or language centres. This includes the administration, operation and management of a team, unit, or department.
  • 5 years ESL teaching experience.
  • 23 years experience working as an IELTS Examiner or experience managing an IELTS Test Centre, Language Centre or Continuing Education unit is preferred.
  • Experience managing operations in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, reporting and project management skills.
  • Experience in developing strategic partnerships with both internally and externally
