Thunderbird Partnership Foundation is a national non-profit organization serving First Nations in mental wellness.

Our mandate is set by three frameworks:


  • Honouring Our Strengths: A Renewed Framework to Address Substance Use Issues Among First Nations People in Canada
  • Indigenous Wellness Framework
  • First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum
Our core stakeholders are First Nations communities and the network of First Nations adult and youth treatment centres.

To support our mandate, Thunderbird has two office locations:

one based in a First Nations community in southwestern Ontario, and the other in the city of London, Ontario.

This position is a remote work position.


Position Summary

Your Opportunity
As the Thunderbird Partnership Foundation Training & Education Manager, you will:

  • Plan, coordinate and oversee Thunderbird's online training expansion with Indigenous Knowledge as the foundation in consultation with the Training and Education Manager and CEO
  • Ensure effective and culturally appropriate, knowledge exchange processes for online training from design to implementation that is based on the

Honouring Our Strengths:
A Renewed Framework to Address Substance Use Issues among First Nations in Canada (HOS) policy document and the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework

  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated, comprehensive continuum of mental wellness services are integrated in Thunderbird online training programs and services
  • Formulate and update training policies and schedules, utilizing knowledge of identified training needs, Thunderbird production processes, and business systems
  • Organize and develop training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials
  • Update records and compile statistical reports on interviews, transfers, performance ratings, and promotions to evaluate performance of instructors and monitor progress of trainees.
  • Evaluates the need for new technology to meet the needs of online training
  • Assist in the development of policies and practices that adhere to client confidentiality and Canadian privacy laws/regulations, storage, and access to digital information records
  • Develop and implement a personal and professional development plan targeted at core competencies to ensure continued growth and development of responsibility
  • Work cooperatively with others to ensure an effective work environment and is able to manage their time, space, and tasks;
  • Organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements and necessary sequence of activities needed to achieve goals while demonstrating high professional standards
  • Plan, organize and implement online learning activities while being able to establish and meet targets and objectives; adjust activities and work priorities in light of changing circumstances while meeting position responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner; create and oversee work plans and able to understand the time and resources necessary to deliver the work.
  • Adhere to accepted ethical and behavioural standards of conduct and professionalism including trust building and confidentiality
  • Oversee the development of curriculum resources and training processes with an emphasis on efficient and effective resource management in order to meet project outcomes
  • Transfer knowledge of best practices, expertise, tools, and resources amongst Thunderbird networks, leadership and other stakeholders
  • Build constructive working relationships with stakeholders, colleagues and others in order to achieve the online training and education team's goals and objectives as well as the organization's strategic priorities
  • Anticipate and resolve problems using initiative and creativity; recognize and evaluate the signs of a problem proactively addressing it; gather information to arrive at a solution, weighing alternatives; notify supervisor and appropriate colleagues in a timely manner
  • Work on a team with others like yourself who are dedicated to work which has real value and meaning in the lives of others
