The YMCA of Northern Alberta, Red Deer, will be starting its next session of
Bridging the Gap on
January 3, 2023

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SESSION WILL BE OFFERED IN-PERSON.
This program focuses on youth aged facing barriers to employment.


This pre-employment program will include one-to-one career counselling and coaching, help with developing a career plan, resume writing, interview skills training, 8-weeks of small group in-class Employment Skills Training and 12-weeks of a Quality Employment Opportunity.

Youth in the program will have the chance to obtain trainings or certifications that will help them to achieve employment, as they pertain to their individual employment action plans.


These may include:

  • OSSA-CSO, OSSA-Confined Spaces, WHMIS, H2S Alive, Pro-Serve / Pro-Tect / Sell Safe, First Aid and CPR, Fall Protection and Aerial Work Platform.


Each person enrolled in the program will be paid a daily allowance reflecting minimum wages, to a maximum of 30 hours a week.

Participants will receive a $200 bonus after successfully completing the Employment Skills Training intervention, and a $300 bonus after successfully completing their Quality Employment Opportunity.


ONLY 10 participants will be selected to start the intake.

The Bridging the Gap program is open to:

  • Young adults aged
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee
  • Eligible to work in Canada
Each participant is required to complete an interview
prior to being accepted into the program.


WE ARE CURRENTLY SCHEDULING INTERVIEWS NOW
All interviews will be conducted via video conferencing.


Job Types:
Full-time, Fixed term contract


Salary:
$13.00-$15.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends

Supplemental pay types:

  • Bonus pay

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Red Deer, AB T4P 3E9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
