Job Summary
The Medical Transportation Support Worker will be responsible for the safe delivery of patients to and from the airport and to various medical appointments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pick up medical patients and their support person, transport them to and from the airport and medical appointments.
- Arrange travel, accommodation, and meals for eligible clients.
- Communicate effectively and collaboratively with the public, clients, organizations, service providers.
- Ensure that only patient(s) and their support person/people are being transported and that vans are not being used for personal transport.
- Act as liaison between community and respective clients and care providers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of clients to and from their appointments and or to accommodations if needed.
- Verify that all vehicle passengers are properly buckled up and secured prior to transport.
- Communicate with and inform the Medical Transportation Coordinator of potential disruptions or changes.
- Create and submit reports or other necessary paperwork regarding medical trip arrangements, outcomes, and ongoing concerns after each shift.
- Perform pretrip inspection of the vehicle.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance on a weekly basis (i.e. gas, check oil, tires & windshield wash).
- Report and arrange for vehicle service appointments as required.
- Ensure vehicle is kept clean always (interior and exterior).
- Operate vehicle in a safe manner, obeying all rules of the road.
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
- Understand and sign ATC confidentiality agreement and maintain patient confidentiality always.
- Participate in team and staff meetings as well as meetings which would be appropriate to support both service delivery and organizational goals.
- Fill in for admin assistant role at any of ATC Depts or front desk when needed.
- Adhere to all ATC policies and procedures and work in a culturally appropriate and relevant manner consistent with the ATC's Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum 1year experience transporting clients.
- Defensive Driving Course preferred.
- Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations.
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Exceptional organizational skills with task prioritization, multitasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be selfdirected
- Ability to speak Cree or Dene is an asset
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Class 4 Driver's License and clean Drivers Abstract
- Clear Criminal Background Check
- Child and Family Services Intervention Check
- Ability to lift pounds
- Ability to speak Cree or Dene is an asset
WORK CONDITIONS
- Operation of motor vehicle and extended periods of sitting.
- Minor vehicle maintenance.
- Heavy lifting at times may be required.
- Interaction with patient(s), coworkers, management, and the public at large.
- Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
- Overtime as required with prior approval from Health Director.
- Weekend work may be required and work on certain STAT Holidays will be required based on CEO discretion.
