Payroll Assistant - Vancouver, Canada - Onni Group

There is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to join the HR team in Vancouver as a Payroll Assistant on a 1-year contract with the possibility of an extension starting May 1st, 202- Process and manage payroll for 700+ salaried/hourly/commission employees, including but not limited to calculating wages, processing tax withholdings, and maintaining accurate payroll records.
- Administer employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, including enrollment, maintenance, termination and communication.
- Maintain accurate employee records, including personal and employment information, and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Conduct new hire onboarding and ensuring all required paperwork is completed accurately and timely.
- Manage employee relations issues and addressing employee concerns.
- Stay uptodate with employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance with federal and provincial laws
- WCB Reporting, ROE filing, preparation of T4's and summaries
- Review and verify expense reports, ensure that expenses submitted are in compliance with the travel and expense policy.
- Respond to payroll and benefit queries from employees, management and external parties
- Prepare written communication regarding new and changed policies and procedures.
- Prepare Termination Letter, Letter of Employment, Verification Letters
- Various project work to support the HR and Payroll department
- All other duties as assigned
Summary of Qualifications & Requirements:
- 1 year experience in payroll, benefits and HR coordination
- Strong understanding of CRA, ESA and other employment related law and regulations
- PCP designation or working towards it
- Familiar with payroll practices involving salaried, hourly and sales commission employees
- Must love finding new way to improve processes and use systems to their full potential
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional eye for detail and accuracy.
- Proven teamwork and relationship building skills.
- Capable of discretely handling confidential information
- Highly accountable, dependable and strong attention to detail
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (in particular Excel and Word)
- Experience with UltiPro and Timberline a definite asset
