Do you have a passion for helping people? Do you love payroll? There is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to join the HR team in Vancouver as a Payroll Assistant on a 1-year contract with the possibility of an extension starting May 1st, 202- Process and manage payroll for 700+ salaried/hourly/commission employees, including but not limited to calculating wages, processing tax withholdings, and maintaining accurate payroll records.


  • Administer employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, including enrollment, maintenance, termination and communication.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including personal and employment information, and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Conduct new hire onboarding and ensuring all required paperwork is completed accurately and timely.
  • Manage employee relations issues and addressing employee concerns.
  • Stay uptodate with employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance with federal and provincial laws
  • WCB Reporting, ROE filing, preparation of T4's and summaries
  • Review and verify expense reports, ensure that expenses submitted are in compliance with the travel and expense policy.
  • Respond to payroll and benefit queries from employees, management and external parties
  • Prepare written communication regarding new and changed policies and procedures.
  • Prepare Termination Letter, Letter of Employment, Verification Letters
  • Various project work to support the HR and Payroll department
  • All other duties as assigned

Summary of Qualifications & Requirements:


  • 1 year experience in payroll, benefits and HR coordination
  • Strong understanding of CRA, ESA and other employment related law and regulations
  • PCP designation or working towards it
  • Familiar with payroll practices involving salaried, hourly and sales commission employees
  • Must love finding new way to improve processes and use systems to their full potential
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Proven teamwork and relationship building skills.
  • Capable of discretely handling confidential information
  • Highly accountable, dependable and strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (in particular Excel and Word)
  • Experience with UltiPro and Timberline a definite asset
