Our strategy, facilities, partnerships and resources are intentionally student-centred to foster dialogue, expression and open connections in support of the next generation of creative and cultural leaders.- The Case Manager/Student Resource Coordinator (SRC) provides support, guidance, and coaching to students in addressing conflict and navigating barriers that are impeding their capacity for academic success and development.

The SRC assists students in accessing and navigating university academic and non-academic policies, procedures, and appeals and in understanding their rights and responsibilities.

The SRC facilitates access to services and supports that include Counselling and Accessibility services specifically, and other student support services generally.- In addition, the SRC monitors the Support Messaging System (SMS) and responds to reports about student academic concerns or distressed behavior from faculty, staff, and administrators, consulting with them as needed.

The SRC completes follow-up outreach and provides support to students where there are academic concerns or distressing behavior, and coordinates support, response, and referral where necessary.

The SRC collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators to recommend and develop policy.- The SRC is knowledgeable and informed regarding current stressors, wellness needs and challenges of the student body, and provides guidance, strategies, and resources to address these needs.

Under the oversight of Counselling, the SRC develops, implements, and supervises comprehensive health and wellness programming, including workshops, which promote and enhance students' success, mental health, and well-being.

Typical Duties in Case Management and Policy Navigation Include:


  • Monitors and coordinates comprehensive responses to Support Messages through the SMS, conducting outreach to students who are flagged in the system.
  • Consults with faculty, staff, and administrators regarding students' academic concerns or distressed behavior.
  • Provides students with oneonone assistance in navigating University policies, procedures, and appeal/complaint processes, including understanding their rights and responsibilities. Uses a supportive and collegial coaching style that fosters respectful and interestbased dialogue between the student and relevant stakeholders.
  • Provides support, guidance, and coaching to students in addressing conflict and navigating barriers that are impeding their capacity for academic success and development.
  • Prepares students to advocate for themselves and articulate their concerns.
  • Designs, organizes, and conducts workshops for students, faculty, and staff on university policies and procedures.
  • Provides training, support, collaboration, and guidance for internal community members on the SMS.
  • In consultation with the Executive Director, reviews, recommends and develops policy with respect to equitable, fair, and just treatment of students.
  • Maintains accurate case records, participates in data collection and analysis related to the SMS and prepares reports annually and as required.
  • Attends various internal and external meetings and participates on internal committees as assigned.
  • Directs students to appropriate services within the Emily Carr community (e.g., Accessibility Services, Academic Advising, Counselling, Student Union, Program Manager of Violence Reduction, and Incident Response) and resources in the greater community.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
