Communities and Environment technical group is looking for a

Waste Management Technician or Planner to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities:


What your day will look like

Project Support & Waste Management Planning

  • Assist in solid waste projects related to waste management policy, planning and approvals, waste diversion programs and waste management facilities across Canada.
  • Completion and supervision of environmental field activities including waste composition studies, monitoring, maintenance, evaluation and troubleshooting
  • Completion of data analysis.
  • Completion of reporting.
  • Assist in developing and participating in public consultation programs and preparing publicfacing content.
  • Assist project managers, engineers, environmental scientists and others on a variety of multidisciplinary solid waste management projects.
  • Coordinate and manage project tasks, budgets and schedules.

Learning & Development

  • Commit to selfdevelopment and ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring.
  • Contribute to Dillon's corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Qualifications:

What you will need to succeed

  • A degree or diploma in environmental science, engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in solid waste management, preferably within a consulting environment.

Experience:


  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, and keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated abilities in multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Aptitude to learn.
  • Familiar with relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, environmental policies, codes and standards.
  • Experience leading/completing waste composition studies would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in AUTOCAD, GIS, Surfer, gINT or database abilities is an asset.
