Tomlinson Infrastructure is currently seeking an Estimator / Project Coordinator to join our team in Kingston, ON. This position reports to the Construction Manager.This position entails preparing lump sum, unit rate and cost-plus estimates for a broad range of projects and assists in all aspects of the project including: scheduling, submissions, customer relations, contract management, change management, project controls, quality control and safety.
They will liaise with customers, clients, sub-contractors and consulting engineers to build professional relationships and to promote R.W. Tomlinson services and capabilities.Location:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and submit required project plans and submissions
- Attend job showings and pretender site visits
- Review tender specifications, drawings, Geotech reports, and draft contract/subcontract documents. Submit concerns or questions through the tender RFI process. Identify all potential contract risks and liaison with our project controls and claims department for advice
- Reviews tender submissions with the appropriate manager
- Perform quantity calculations and full takeoffs for all tender items
- Utilize estimation software to prepare estimates
- Run estimation handover meetings with field team to convey estimation productions, risks and opportunities carried in the estimate
- Assist with preparation of contract schedules and tracking of daily productions
- Receive and process construction drawings, construction documents and shop drawings
- Compile monthly payment quantities
- Assist with change of works and change proposal process
- Monitor job costs and approve invoices
- Order materials and daily schedules
- Obtain permits and monitor compliance
- Order and process underground utility locates
- Communicate with clients and subcontractors to obtain pricing
- Monitor job posting sites, media, engineering firms etc. for tendering opportunities.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Fastpaced work environment, typically on large and complex projects
- Working in an office environment or on construction site(s)
- Potential of long working hours, with local travel between work sites as required
- Will be required to work under pressure with tight deadlines
- Exposure to construction site work environment in all seasons and weather conditions
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- University degree in Civil Engineering, college diploma in Civil Engineering (CET or related field), or an additional 3 years of industry experience
- Minimum of 3 years of industry experience (field or estimating)
- P6 scheduling software experience is an asset
- Hard Dollar Estimation software and SAP knowledge is an asset
- Strong knowledge and understanding of construction health and safety requirements
- Basic accounting principles knowledge is considered an asset
- Valid full G class driver's license is required
