Job Summary

UBC Health supports the transformation of health into an integrated system focused on individual and community wellbeing. UBC Health facilitates and encourages effective advocacy for continuous improvement in the health ecosystem.

The Coordinator, Interdisciplinary Health Projects facilitates the development, delivery, and evaluation of initiatives that link efforts and priorities of university and health sector partners.

This position will interact with faculty, staff and students from various faculties and departments at UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan campuses and with health sector partners, including patients and non-profit organizations, across British Columbia to support the implementation of projects that align with the UBC Health Strategic Plan to enable dialogue, activate assets, and advance policies and innovations to improve health systems at individual and community levels.

This position will coordinate diverse projects aimed at improving health systems through healthcare innovation, collaborative education and interdisciplinary research.

Examples of initiatives include coordinating cross-sector dialogue about critical challenges for health in British Columbia, supporting a broad-based network for advancement of team-based care, and contributing to the development of a program for collaborative health education in team-based care.

This position requires excellent diplomacy, communication and interpersonal skills, considerable judgment, and problem-solving skills to develop approaches and techniques to engage with diverse partners to achieve project objectives.

Leveraging strong organizational and communication skills, the incumbent will ensure that all project activities are executed in accordance with timelines, budgets, high standards of quality and ethics, and emerging best practices for patient and public engagement.

Organizational Status


UBC Health is responsible for driving the vision of the Vice-President, Health portfolio by promoting an integrated approach to collaboration among all health programs at UBC and with external partners in the health sector, including patients and community organizations.

UBC Health reports to the Office of the Vice-President, Health and serves as a resource to all health disciplines at UBC.


The Coordinator reports directly to the Assistant Director, Health Systems and receives high level strategic direction from UBC Health Directors and/or Assistant Directors.

The incumbent works in close collaboration with other members of the team in the Office of the Vice-President, Health, as well as faculty and staff members from various academic units, and a wide range of partners internal and external to UBC, including individual patients, caregivers, and non-profit organizations across the Lower Mainland and throughout BC.

Work Performed

  • Develop project plans for activities identified under the UBC Health Strategic Plan, ensuring consultation with project partners
  • Conduct needs assessments, environmental scans and literature reviews to inform specific projects
  • Contribute to project development, planning and execution
  • Develop project proposals, timeframes, schedules, and budgets
  • Identify work priorities for projects, set timelines, monitor budgets, and ensure project objectives and deadlines are met
  • Attend meetings to define strategy, goals and scope of projects
  • Coordinate logistics for project team events and meetings, including preparing and distributing agendas and other materials, taking notes, and tracking action items for followup
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, reports and financial summaries
