About the role
This role will be performed from our Ottawa office following a hybrid model approach. This is a full-time permanent opportunity. #LI-Hybrid


We trust you will be up to the challenge
The main responsibility of the Trust Deposit Operations Department is to:

  • Interact with key stakeholders through engagement activities to promote a strong understanding of and adherence to the requirements in the CDIC Act, By-laws and guidance documents that seek to protect trust deposits at CDIC member institutions.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and oversight of CDIC's framework for key stakeholders including nominee brokers, trustees and other industry participants and assist where required in coordinate related compliance activities within CDIC.

More specifically, the Analyst is responsible to:

  • Analyze key elements and provide input and advice stemming from this analysis of the deposit insurance framework, including the various requirements set out in the CDIC Act, by-laws, and various guidance documentation to assess potential impacts and challenges for key stakeholder groups.
  • Review and assess elements of stakeholder processes, procedures, and business practices, as well as research and assess relevant best practices (e.g., practices in other jurisdictions) that support strong adherence to the deposit insurance requirements.
  • Work with TDO Managers to develop solutions that could be implemented by CDIC or by stakeholders directly to ensure that framework requirements are met.
  • Support TDO Managers during CDIC resolution activities as required to provide technical and administrative assistance related to trust deposits, brokered deposits and various industry processes and procedures related to these deposits.
  • Work with other CDIC internal groups (Insurance, Policy, Resolution, Communications) to identify potential areas where additional work with stakeholders is required to improve understanding of and compliance with the deposit insurance framework.
  • Participate in discussions with key external stakeholders and develop documentation and other materials to support these discussions.
  • Synthesize and be able to explain and communicate key elements of the deposit insurance framework in such a way as to increase stakeholder understanding of the framework and to complement the work of other CDIC groups accurately and effectively.
  • Provide analytical assistance to the Trust Deposit Operations Managers and/or Director in areas of the deposit insurance framework that require strong engagement with key stakeholder groups.
  • As assigned by the Director, assist in the development and execution of stakeholder engagement projects and/or activities related to Corporate priorities and emerging issues in the financial policy sector.
  • Assist in the development of operational solutions that could be implemented by CDIC or by stakeholders directly.


When required, the Analyst assists in the development key communication materials or position and/or issue papers to meet the needs and objectives of the Corporation.

To achieve this objective, the Analyst must interact closely with various CDIC departments and maintain an ongoing liaison with member institutions and other stakeholders to ensure that the deposit insurance framework, within the context of trust deposits, is well understood.
