Job Summary:


The Sheet Metal Assembler is responsible for producing high-quality work with zero non-conformances, ensuring compliance with specifications, and meeting work deadlines in a safe manner.

This role involves interpreting blueprints, assembling and joining sheet metal parts, ensuring accuracy and quality, while addressing any assembly-related issues to create precise and high-quality products or structures.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand the assembly requirements and specifications.
  • Align and fit sheet metal parts together to create the intended product or structure (e.g., flashing, wall panels, insulation, and heating & air conditioning ducts in supportive frameworks). This may involve welding, riveting, using fasteners, or other joining methods.
  • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts, using hand tools and portable power tools.
  • Checking the assembled components' measurements and ensuring they meet the required tolerances and dimensions as well as overall accuracy, completeness and quality.
  • Keeping assembly tools and equipment in good working condition and reporting any malfunctions or issues to the supervisor.
  • Identifying any issues or discrepancies in the assembly process and discuss solutions/adjustment with Fabricator/Lead where appropriate.
  • Crosstrain and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.

Job Qualifications:


  • 13 years sheet metal experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with various hand tools and operate an industrial powered fork truck.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting work orders and drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Ability to meet the physical and sensory demands of the position.

Effort (Physical & Sensory):


  • Continuous standing (810 hours per day and up to 6 days a week)
  • Regular walking, sitting, reaching, climbing or balancing, using fine motor skills; and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Regular lifting and/or moving material (50 lb)
  • Regular vision/sensory demands: close, distance, peripheral, depth, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:


  • Be exposed to various environmental conditions, such as extreme temperatures extremes, fumes, chemicals, odours, noise and vibration ( >80%)
  • Operate machinery, forklifts, and other industrial equipment (5080%)
  • Work at heights ( 80%)
