Development Coordinator:


Primary Purpose:


We are seeking a dynamic and passionate entry-Level Development Coordinator to join our team and help drive the growth of our donor pipeline while retaining existing donors.

This person will support work to maintain a strong donor pipeline to the Edwards School of Business. It will enable our key projects by obtaining philanthropic support from donors, both new and lapsed.


This person will ensure our fiscal responsibility to donors is top priority by managing donor reporting processes and our donor stewardship program.


Nature of Work:


As the Development Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the fundraising efforts of the Edwards School of Business School.

You will be responsible for identifying and managing a portfolio of potential donors, initiating contact, building relationships, asking for philanthropic support, reporting to donors on the impact of their giving, and maintaining donor engagement.

Your ability to understand the nuances of sales, close gifts effectively, and connect with the Edwards mission and values will be essential to your success in this role.


The Development Coordinator is required to garner an in-depth understanding of Edwards priorities, programs, initiatives, and stakeholders with the mandate to build relationships that support major and principal gift programs and opportunities.

Accuracy and attention to detail are essential to ensure that correct information is provided to others. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced.

The Development Coordinator must be knowledgeable about and ensure alignment with university fundraising policies and procedures, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines, and Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) ethical principles and standards.

Travel and evening and weekend work may be required.


Accountabilities:

Prospect Identification

  • Identify potential donors, with the support of the University prospect research team.
  • Networking at community events and through other channels, with a focus on individuals, corporations, and foundations interested in supporting Edwards.
  • Qualify new prospects for the college.
Outreach and Engagement

  • Implement a giving program that oversees the identification, assessment, solicitation, and stewardship of new and existing donors to Edwards.
  • Initiate and manage coldcalling campaigns to introduce potential donors to Edwards initiatives and philanthropic opportunities.
Donor Relationship Building

  • Implement facetoface cultivation and solicitation plans for individuals and businesses to attract increased giving, working closely with the Development Officer and Director of Development.
  • Engage donors in conversations about how their support can enable a meaningful impact on our programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure that relationships with donors, prospective donors, and volunteers are documented in our CRM database to facilitate further relationship building across all areas of the University.
Donor Stewardship

  • Implementing donor thank you and stewardship process.
  • Create and maintain donor reports to track progress and communicate the impact of donations, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Review, audit, and managing donor pledge processes.
University Knowledge

  • Develop a deep understanding of Edwards School of Business mission, programs, and strategic priorities to effectively communicate and align donor interests.
  • Participate in Advancement training, college and university meetings, team planning, and other activities that contribute to achieving college and universitywide goals in development, communications, and alumni relations.
Retention

  • Maintain relationships with existing donors, ensuring their continued engagement and support for the university.
  • Identify and carry out appropriate stewardship activities for leadership giving donors and volunteers.

Qualifications:


Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.


Experience:


  • A minimum of three years directly related experience, preferably at a postsecondary institution. Demonstrated expertise in student recruitment, enrolment management, marketing and/or management is essential.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills with a track record of closing deals.

Skills:


  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal, including diplomacy and tact with enthusiastic professionalism in dealing with people;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Coldcalling experience is a plus.
  • Superior organization skills;
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
