The Opportunity:


Essential responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Be a liaison and public relations representative for the Co-op within the communities we serve;
  • Provide daytoday leadership, guidance and training to the accounting department to ensure that they meet finance department's operational goals;
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of interim and yearend financial reporting in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles;
  • Provide analysis on financial results including trends, performance metrics and benchmarking;
  • Design, implement and evaluate internal financial controls and policies with a proactive focus on business risks to ensure compliance with accounting and taxation requirements;
  • Coordinate the yearend audit process including the review and/or preparation of working papers, schedules, analysis and other documentation that is required;
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local legal requirements by understanding existing and new legislation, adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising senior management on needed actions;
  • Responsible for hiring, developing and providing timely feedback to staff;
  • Assist the Senior Director, Finance with the annual budget process;
  • Work closely with the Senior Director, Finance to identify, design and implement change management initiatives within the cooperative with the goal of driving efficiencies within the business;
  • Assist with special projects related to continuous improvement and process improvements to the organization for further efficiency growth;
  • Perform other accounting and administration duties as required.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA);
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive and relevant accounting experience, preferable in a fastpaced environment;
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience, with welldeveloped coaching and leadership skills, both on a formal and informal basis;
  • Experience working with JD Ewards would be considered an asset;
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills with a keen attention to detail;
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of individuals in a wide range of situations.
  • You are motivated, flexible and possess a strong work ethic.
