JOB OVERVIEW

  • Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a resultsdriven team player to join our organization in the role of Finance Analyst based in downtown Toronto at 700 University Ave.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to Ontario Power Generation's continued growth and success in generating safe, clean, reliable lowcost power in a sustainable manner.
    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Provide advice and guidance to operational clients regarding financial matters.
  • Assist in the development of strategic financial objectives, and associated performance measures, benchmarks and targets.
  • Give advice and guidance on interpretation concerning budget instructions and submission including establishment of guidelines and provide direct assistance as required.
  • Assist in the business planning process where needed
  • Develop Financial Models appropriate to the task at hand. Prepare effective analytical reports as required. Communicate these to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparing and making presentations to the government, other agencies or investment banks as required.

EDUCATION

  • 4year University Degree with emphasis on Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • CPA Designation required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience; familiar with financial analysis, controllership, reporting, excel modelling and financial systems
  • Experience forecasting, and providing budget to actual variance analytics is preferred
  • Experience in developing budgets and business plans is considered an asset
  • Deep experience and applied knowledge of management and financial accounting principals, economics and financial analytical techniques to assess the financial impacts of strategies, standards and expenditure proposals, is preferred;
  • Prior handson experience in consultative role that providing effective financial guidance to the business and department managers, is an asset;
  • Strong sense of urgency and decision making skills conducive to managing priorities and meeting internal and external timelines;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and communicate effectively across the company and externally at all levels;
  • A resultsoriented focus is essential, as is the ability to work in a fastpaced changing environment and effectively manage several projects simultaneously;
  • Ability to navigate organization and support systems to deliver results;
  • Ability to work in a crossfunctional environment;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience in maintaining productive relationships;
  • Excellent leadership and management skills. Sound judgment and decision making, critical thinking and creative problem solving abilities;
  • Highly advanced knowledge and experience working with MS Excel required. Expertise with functions of; Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Macros; and integration within Power BI are a must.
  • High level of proficiency with the use of technology tools such as MS Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook);
  • Experience using large financial and integrated enterprise systems, particularly knowledge of SAP and BPC is preferred
  • Experience and exposure from working in power generation, utilities, mining, construction, engineering, real estate or public sector industry is preferred.
