Prep Cook/dishwasher - Stittsville, Canada - Wildpine Residence
Description
_This is a flex position with both dishwashing and prep cook duties_
- Prepares meals for residents ensuring dietary needs are met
- Provides direction and support to the dining services staff
- Maintains an awareness of food inventory and takes the appropriate steps to minimize waste
- Complies with all food preparation standards and health and safety requirements
- Operates and cleans food production equipment and food preparation area
- Participates as a member of the dietary team and provides support to the other members of the team
- Complies with all infection control standards and health and safety requirements.
- Cleans kitchen, dishwashing area, and serving areas.
- Cleans dishes, pots, pans, and equipment.
- Record Temperature of Dishwashing machine.
- Mop floors
- Empty Kitchen garbage's
- Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, coworkers, and residents.
- Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations.
- Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or in house policy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- Previous experience in a volume food preparation environment in the Health Care or Hospitality industries
- Preferred Red Seal or current equivalent qualifications as a Cook from a recognized cooking program
- Food Safe Certificates I and II (Asset)
- First Aid Certification (Asset)
- Must have a working knowledge of special diets
- Understanding and experience of the HACCP program and food safety plan
- Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate effectively in English
- Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
- Ability to lift 40 lbs repetitively, twist and turn and stand for 3 to 5 consecutive hours.
- Effective interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skills
- Must be able to operate related equipment
Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness:
- Must be able to work full shift with PPE

$18.00 per hour

Screening before and after each shift, Covid Rapid Testing weekly. PPE provided and worn during shifts.
