1 FTE Indigenous Partnership Development Lead

Contract to March, 2027


Position Summary:


The Indigenous Partnership Development Lead will play a lead role in developing Indigenous membership and partnerships within and with the Noojmawing Sookatagaing Ontario Health Team (OHT).

This position is responsible for advancing Indigenous membership, fostering meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities and organizations, and contributing to the ongoing development of structures, processes, and supports that enrich Indigenous relationships with and within the OHT.

The Indigenous Partnership Development Lead will also drive the development and implementation of methods for evaluating the OHT's commitment to Indigenous partnership and its contribution to the principles of truth and reconciliation.


Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:


  • Lead the enhancement of Indigenous membership within the OHT, working closely with Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Collaborate to achieve Indigenous partnership goals, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop comprehensive strategies for empowering and enhancing Indigenous membership within the OHT, aligning with Indigenous principles and priorities.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring clear communication and alignment with the OHT's Indigenous partnership objectives.
  • Monitor progress and performance, identifying and mitigating risks and issues related to Indigenous partnership and reconciliation.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous stakeholders and communities.
  • Prepare and provide regular updates to the Implementation Lead, Indigenous Working Group, and Collaboration Council.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment, promoting open communication and knowledge sharing.
  • Coordinate the documentation and dissemination of outcomes, lessons learned, and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Indigenous studies, community development, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in successfully advancing Indigenous membership and partnership within a healthcare or community context.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous culture, values, principles, and governance models.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience in risk assessment and mitigation, related to partnership development.
  • Change management experience and training.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and with Indigenous organizations and communities.

Other Requirements:


  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle required.
  • Ability to travel within the City and District.
  • Ability to work flexibly based on project needs.
  • Canadian criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
