We are looking for a full-time Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our busy team_

-
Responsibilities:_

Participate in internally driven safety initiatives as assigned; including but not limited to, legal compliance assessments, cost analyses, setting up administrative functions (training, maintenance, KPIs, etc.)
Coordinate document and record flow and retention for safety related items
Conduct Job Safety Analysis on new and existing processes
Oversee contractor management for applicable locations, ensuring we have the proper current documentation and maintaining files
Assist with incident reports/investigations as well as followups on outstanding corrective actions
Submitting WCB/WSIB claims on behalf of the employer and assisting in the returntowork process
Plan and lead emergency drills and tabletop exercises
Assist in distribution and scheduled reviews of Emergency Response Plans
Participate in Joint Health & Safety Meetings holding the position of the Management Co-Chair
New Worker Online Orientation setup and management
Ability to organize and conduct presentations and training sessions as required
Coordinate and schedule external training for staff
Local Travel between sites (upon request/approval from reporting Manager)
Required to be "on call" for any health and/or safety related issues that occur outside working hours; this includes evenings and weekends
Other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications_

Diploma or Degree in H&S, Environmental or Health Sciences related field
12 Years' experience in a manufacturing/production environment required
Excellent written and oral communication skills
General knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards and legislation
Experienced user of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Understanding of agricultural/chemical industry considered an asset
Valid driver's license

Working Conditions

May be long periods of sitting or standing
Will be required to work both in an office setting as well as out on the manufacturing facility floor
Travel will be required between multiple Winnipeg sites
