We are looking for a full-time Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our busy team_

Responsibilities:_

  • Participate in internally driven safety initiatives as assigned; including but not limited to, legal compliance assessments, cost analyses, setting up administrative functions (training, maintenance, KPIs, etc.)
  • Coordinate document and record flow and retention for safety related items
  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis on new and existing processes
  • Oversee contractor management for applicable locations, ensuring we have the proper current documentation and maintaining files
  • Assist with incident reports/investigations as well as followups on outstanding corrective actions
  • Submitting WCB/WSIB claims on behalf of the employer and assisting in the returntowork process
  • Plan and lead emergency drills and tabletop exercises
  • Assist in distribution and scheduled reviews of Emergency Response Plans
  • Participate in Joint Health & Safety Meetings holding the position of the Management Co-Chair
  • New Worker Online Orientation setup and management
  • Ability to organize and conduct presentations and training sessions as required
  • Coordinate and schedule external training for staff
  • Local Travel between sites (upon request/approval from reporting Manager)
  • Required to be "on call" for any health and/or safety related issues that occur outside working hours; this includes evenings and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications_

  • Diploma or Degree in H&S, Environmental or Health Sciences related field
  • 12 Years' experience in a manufacturing/production environment required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • General knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards and legislation
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of agricultural/chemical industry considered an asset
  • Valid driver's license

Working Conditions

  • May be long periods of sitting or standing
  • Will be required to work both in an office setting as well as out on the manufacturing facility floor
  • Travel will be required between multiple Winnipeg sites
