Overview


The
Quality Assurance (QA) Technician is an essential part of our production team and process, to ensure that our products are produced to meet customer requirements.

The
QA Technician monitors the Production and Packing processes to identify and highlight any observed variances from standard, through systematic spot audits.


Shifts:
Typical shifts are 12-hour Continental (7 to 7), 2 week rotation (days/nights).

Union:
membership required after 600 hours.


Safety First

  • Be aware of hazards associated with each task.
  • Report and communicate any unsafe practices, working conditions, any hazard or potential hazard encountered to your Supervisor and team members.

What you will do.

  • Conduct regular Quality auditing of all production lines and work crossfunctionally to ensure all stakeholders are informed and aware.
  • Product inspection and testing.
  • Work closely with the QA Coordinator, Plant Management and Shift Supervisors to ensure that leadership are aware of potential quality and food safety issues.
  • Work closely with technical/Engineering support to ensure a complete understanding of product specifications for new products and/or materials.
  • Work with Sales to ensure customer requirements are met (labeling, pack sizes, special quality requirements, etc.).
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation (i.e. verification & filing of records, label preparations).
  • Understand and share Quality and Food Safety system (SQF, HACCP) sanitation practices and requirements.
  • Provide additional support for changeovers, maintaining the sample room and helping monitor first production runs or new products as required.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Postsecondary education in a relevant field or experience equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to understand English written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to fill out labels, reports, and checklists.
  • Must be willing to work in areas of heat & humidity, noise and dust.
  • Must be willing to wear all required PPE protective equipment.
  • Computer proficiency: PC, iPad, MS Office, Minitab, (DataMyte an asset).
  • Must be able to clearly distinguish colours.
  • Able to lift 1015kg (3540lbs) on a regular basis and stand for periods of time.
  • Flexible to work different work schedules as required as work assignments will change and opportunity to complete work may require a shift change.
  • Always nice to have is knowing Amhil's products or plastic thermoforming processes.
