PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Train, mentor, and evaluate Engineering employees on skill level and ability, monitoring training record and recommending potential training requirement. Document, Process and track qualification / disqualification of engineering employees.


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develops continuous improvement opportunities through training and technical support;
  • Coach, monitor, evaluate or train CP employees to operate work equipment;
  • Document and process employee qualification / disqualification of CP machine operators;
  • Plan, schedule and monitor approved training classes associated with machine operators;
  • Implements, educates and provides guidance to employees contributing to improved safety;
  • Interact with employees to ensure/understand performance requirements of inspections and preventative maintenance per current instructions;
  • Manage and mentor a Unionized Trainer-Mentor if/when required;
  • Stop unsafe work practices and behavior;
  • Evaluate the skill levels against set parameters for CP machine operators.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent;
  • Minimum 5 years production crew or work equipment maintenance experience;
  • Knowledge / understanding of engineering/mechanical field operations and production crews;
  • Knowledge of Maintenance of Way equipment operation and safety procedures;
  • Good communication skills verbal and written;
  • Organizational and people leadership;
  • Computer literate (MS Office Suite);
  • Canadian Railway Operating Rules & Track Safety Rules qualified;
  • Knowledge/understanding of TCRC MWED Collective Bargaining Agreement related to qualification/ disqualification of machine operator positions.

Management Conductor Program:


Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CP.
